Meet the Horses

Here are some of the Lambourn RDA horses:

Beamish

Beamish

Beamish is the perfect child’s pony and is affectionately known as ‘The pocket rocket’! He is a flea bitten grey, about 12hh and is 15 years old. As well as the RDA, Beamish loves to get out and about and enjoys show jumping.

Drummer

Drummer

Drummer is 17 years old and is a black Shetland pony. He is used for riding and driving and regularly ‘dresses up’ for fancy dress competitions, the Lambourn Carnival and at Christmas time. He is a kind gentle pony, ideal for our smaller riders and loves to be groomed and pampered.

Haffy

Haffy is a Haflinger and he is 14.1hh. He is a light chestnut colour with a beautiful long flowing flaxen main and tail. Haffy is one of the newest of our RDA ponies and he has proven himself invaluable in a very short time. The breed is known for its placid temperament and its desire to please and Haffy has certainly adapted to the task with ease.

Hogan

Hogan is a 16hh, heavy draught horse, who is kindly on loan to the RDA. He is a skewbald, gentle giant with a patient and consistent temperament, ideal for all our activities. When Hogan is ‘off duty’ he also enjoys the sound of the hunting horn!

Ranger

Ranger is a 10 year old skewbald and is 13.3hh. He is a real character and loves to pick up bean bags when we play gymkhana games. As Alex says "He is good when he is good". He enjoys going out for a hack and can be very forward going.

Rosie

Rosie is one of our younger horses aged just 6 years old. She is trained both for riding and driving, although she is principally used for riding. She is a heavy type horse, described as a Blagdon, which refers to her colouring. She is iron grey with white splashed up from underneath. Rosie is 15.3hh and we refer to her as our temperamental teenager, although she has an ideal calm temperament needed for our  riders.

StanStan

Stan is one of our newest horses. He is a black welsh cross and is 15.3hh. Stan is a lively ride and although he is not suitable for all our riders, he is perfect for developing riding independence for our more able riders.

Raine or Corae Chandon

Raine has just joined our team at Lambourn. He is very kindly on loan to us and is helping Alex with her dressage. Raine is a very handome 15.2hh Apaloosa bay leopard spot, 9 year old gelding. He is very responsive to the aids and therefore ideal for helping to develop more advanced riding skills on a one to one basis.

All Lambourn RDA horses are microchipped and freezemarked. Our stables have on site 24/7 security.
